Keswick Rambles, Lake District Guided Walks
Christmas walks 2011. See below. Some will be a bit longer than others and of course being mountain walks are subject to the elements, so you will need to come prepared for bad weather i.e. if snowy you may need crampons. Walks take all day so you will not be returning to Keswick until the later afternoon. Timings can only be estimates because the group always goes at the slowest person's pace.

It has always been our policy that well behaved dogs on a lead can come on the walks, so if your pooch fulfills that category then bring it along too.
Remember though that our canine companions need as much care on a walk as you do, so don't forget essentials for their comfort especially if the weather is as bad as this. Always carry spare food for them too.

| Continuing Personal Development Policy
Did you know that all Mountain Leaders are now required to keep a log of personal development and that they must demonstrate that they are continuing to update their skills? From 1st January 2011 all Mountain Leaders are now required to submit their CPD and Credit Points gained for evaluation every 5 years by the MLTA. "CPD undertaken should maintain or enhance a leader's knowledge and skills at a level equivalent to that required by the MLT qualification they hold." Pete and Lyn have been doing a spot of CPD for years in Scotland by updating their wild camping and navigation skills and recently Lyn bought an up to the minute Satmap GPS which some of you have seen her using. Also in June 2010 they both completed the 12 Munros on the Cuillin Ridge in Skye in six consecutive days. This involved many climbing and scrambling skills above and beyond those required for ML (summer) but they like to push the boat out....... |

Lyn in action on the Skye Ridge, this was 'topping out' up a difficult chimney towards the summit of Sgurr Alasdair there were 4 men below watching her to see how she got on before trying it themselves, only one followed; no ropes were used.

Day three on Skye, this is Tom Colqhoun our guide pointing out to Lyn some important feature on the ridge. Hard hats were needed this day because the scrambling and risk of rock fall was serious, we were going up Am Basteir without ropes.
